Dr. Carol Fretz
Dr. Carol Fretz bought Southtown Veterinary Clinic in July of 2005. She is a native to the Fort Wayne area, growing up just northwest of New Haven on her family’s 60 acre farm. She has practiced veterinary medicine since graduating from Purdue University in 1993. During the first five years of her career, she worked for several mixed animal practices throughout the state of Indiana. In 1998 she returned to the Fort Wayne area to practice small animal medicine. Most days you will find Dr. Fretz snuggling with the several clinic cats or playing with one of her dogs when she is not busy crawling around on the floor with her patients. She enjoys the laid back pace of life on the south side and looks forward to working with pet owners in this area for many years to come. |

Sophie
Sophie is Dr. Fretz’s Great Dane. Many people confuse her with a large Dalmatian due to her coat color which is called a harlequin pattern. She loves to lie at your feet or in the closest sun beam. She is a constant companion of Dr. Fretz. |

Gillighan
Gillighan is Dr. Fretz’s Border collie mix that she adopted through a rescue group. Gillighan came to her half starved and is very quick to snatch up food and treats. He is a clown and loves to be the center of attention. If you hear what sounds like a Wookie or bear in the back part of the clinic when you visit, it is just Gillie yelling at his big sister. |

Buddy
Buddy is the head cat of the clinic since Gates passed away. He was brought to Dr. Fretz in the summer of 2005 and weighed less than half a pound and was 7 weeks old. He had sustained a broken hip and had no desire to eat. With constant nursing, encouraging and loving care, he has become the beautiful black cat he is today. He loves to be petted, but not held, and enjoys long drinks from a running faucet. His favorite lounging spot is on top of the computer monitors or in the sunny windows in the reception area. |

Bert
Bert was given to Dr. Fretz by her brother. When he found her, she had a severe case of pneumonia caused by parasites. She is very friendly, but loves to nibble on your fingers. |
